Jaishankar torches Pakistan, shades US at UN

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar addressed the UN General Assembly and labeled Pakistan a global terrorism center. He defended India's military response to April's cross-border attack that killed tourists in Pahalgam. Jaishankar stated India exercised its defense rights against terrorism.

The minister discussed trade concerns without directly naming America, noting that nations face pressure to reduce economic risks. He cited tariff uncertainty and limited market access as driving factors behind this trend. His comments followed a BRICS foreign ministers gathering where members criticized rising trade barriers.

President Trump has threatened additional tariffs on BRICS nations and imposed 50 percent duties on Indian goods. Commerce officials from both countries continue to negotiate despite ongoing trade tensions. Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized the critical importance of India during bilateral meetings this week.
