Jamaica flexes 55 flight links, Bartlett hypes tourism takeover

Jamaica positions itself as the Caribbean region's leading connected destination through record-breaking international linkages. The island anticipates 4.5 million visitors by year-end, with 3.1 million stopover guests and 1.4 million cruise passengers. Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett announced these achievements at the JAPEX media breakfast held at Jewel Grande in Montego Bay. The nation maintains direct flight connections to more than 55 global gateways.

Infrastructure development supports this growth through major projects. The $274 million Montego Bay Perimeter Road reaches 60 percent completion while addressing traffic congestion. The International Finance Corporation partners with Jamaica to expand North Coast Highway segments from two lanes to four lanes. These improvements enhance access to key destinations like Montego Bay and Ocho Rios.

The Jamaica Centre for Tourism Innovation has certified over 20,000 industry workers. The Tourism Workers Pension Scheme continues expanding benefits for professionals across the sector.
