Japhet Boateng Kyei dies in Accra, aiding a stranded driver

A Ghana Immigration Service officer died Saturday night after a vehicle collision near Accra Arts Centre. AICO II Japhet Boateng Kyei had stopped to help another driver whose car had broken down on the busy road. The officer successfully assisted the stranded motorist and began walking back toward his parked vehicle. A Hyundai Veloster with registration number DV 9050Y-25 struck Kyei during his return trip across the street. Emergency responders declared the immigration officer dead upon arrival at the scene.

Police have detained the Hyundai driver for questioning about the fatal accident. Authorities began investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision immediately after the incident occurred. Witnesses confirmed that Kyei had completed his good deed before the tragedy unfolded. The case remains under active investigation as officials work to determine all factors that contributed to the officer's death. Police report that the detained driver continues cooperating with their ongoing inquiry.
