Jensen Huang Hypes Nintendo Switch 2 Chip

NVIDIA chief Jensen Huang made rare comments about gaming during a recent public appearance. He praised the company's work on Nintendo Switch 2 and called the new Tegra chip a technological marvel. The gaming industry took notice since NVIDIA has focused heavily on artificial intelligence recently. Huang spoke at the Creator's Voice segment about the upcoming console. He said the device honors Nintendo legend Satoru Iwata's legacy.

The NVIDIA boss claimed the Switch 2 chip delivers performance beyond any other mobile processor. He described three major advances the chip brings to gaming. The processor offers the most advanced graphics ever seen on a mobile device. It supports full hardware ray tracing and high dynamic range features. The architecture also provides backward compatibility with older games.

Technical details suggest the Tegra chip uses Ampere architecture with 1536 CUDA cores. The processor runs at 561 MHz when portable and 1007 MHz when docked to a TV. The eight-core ARM Cortex CPU may reach speeds up to 1.7 GHz. Some experts question whether this truly represents the fastest mobile chip available. AMD offers competing processors for handheld gaming devices that might match or exceed these speeds.

The Switch 2 will likely use NVIDIA's DLSS technology to boost performance. This feature could help the console run demanding games more smoothly. Many gamers appreciated hearing Huang discuss gaming topics again after months of AI-focused presentations. The gaming community hopes NVIDIA will continue supporting console development alongside their AI business.
