Jockey set to bring Madurai goat fight action to the big screen

Madurai goat fights just got a cinematic release date after sudden scheduling hiccups. PK7 Studios confirmed that Jockey hits theaters on January 23, 2026, shifting from the original January 14 target. Director Pragabhal, famous for his previous work on mud racing, returns with this unique action flick exploring traditional animal combat. The team promised a fresh experience despite the postponement.

The filmmaker spent years researching the deep connection between handlers and their livestock. He required the cast to reside in Madurai and physically train alongside the creatures to ensure authenticity. Actors Yuvan Krishna and Ridhan Krishnas accepted the challenge, risking injury to mirror the intensity found in this ancient cultural sport.

Ammu Abhirami secured the female lead role while Madhu Sudhan Rao plays a significant character. Udhayakumar managed cinematography duties while Srikanth edited the footage. Sakthi Balaji composed the score, and Prabhu Jacky choreographed the stunts. The crew believes this portrayal of Tamil heritage offers emotional depth beyond simple spectacle.
