Joseph Munyao, ex-livestock minister, dies at 85

Joseph Munyao, a former Livestock Minister and Mbooni Member of Parliament, has died at age 85. The former lawmaker passed away while receiving medical care in Nairobi.

Makueni Governor Mutula Kilonzo Junior and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka both expressed their condolences, praising Munyao as a dedicated and humble public servant. He served as the Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Development under President Mwai Kibaki and represented his constituency in multiple non-consecutive terms. His political career, which included co-founding the Democratic Party, spanned both single-party and multi-party eras in Kenya. He is remembered for his contributions to livestock policy and rural development.
