JPR report says PC hardware market to hit $44.5B

Jon Peddie Research reports that the PC gaming hardware market will experience unprecedented expansion during 2025. The firm projects a record 35 percent increase in sales, generating approximately $44.5 billion in revenue from desktop systems, laptops, graphics cards, and gaming accessories. Analysts expect this robust performance to continue through 2028, maintaining annual sales above $40 billion. Windows 11 hardware requirements drive much of this growth as millions of users must upgrade processors, motherboards, and memory components.

Ted Pollak, senior analyst at Jon Peddie Research, notes that Microsoft has never before mandated such extensive hardware migrations. The entry-level gaming segment faces a projected 13 percent decline over five years as roughly 10 million players consider switching to consoles, handhelds, and mobile devices. However, many budget-conscious gamers will remain within the PC ecosystem by purchasing mid-range and high-end components. This migration pattern benefits manufacturers through improved profit margins and sustained revenue growth across premium hardware categories.
