Judge slams police, demands answers in Mbijiwe disappearance

A high court judge got fed up with delays in a missing persons case. Judge Martin Muya warned everyone involved to stop dragging out the proceedings about security analyst Mwenda Mbijiwe, gone for over four years. His warning came after the Inspector General Douglas Kanja and the DCI head, Mohamed Amin, skipped a court summons.

The judge said they should kindly resolve the disappearance, not play games. Mbijiwe's mother wanted arrest warrants for the two officials for contempt. Their lawyer, Paul Nyamodi, argued they were not properly served and that the present investigating officer could give an update.

That officer told the court Mbijiwe's mother did actually file a report, contradicting earlier claims. The family's lawyers stressed the point is that a report was filed, not who filed it. The judge called for honesty and cooperation, setting a new hearing date for January.
