Justice Mzikamanda Tells MEC Bosses to Play Ball Or Else

Chief Justice Rezine Robert Mzikamanda told three new electoral commissioners to follow the law and serve Malawi with honor. The swearing-in ceremony took place at Lilongwe High Court. President Lazarus Chakwera picked Richard Chapweteka from MCP, Dr. Emmanuel Fabiano and Caroline Mfune from DPP for the jobs. These appointments filled empty spots left after two commissioners finished their terms and one quit. The Chief Justice said he was happy with the choices.

Mzikamanda praised the commissioners for their past work. He said the country trusts their experience and fairness. The Chief Justice urged them to focus on legal duties and help all citizens. He reminded them that Malawi depends on their service. Their return shows strong faith from the public.

MEC Chairperson Justice Annabel Mtalimanja spoke about the commissioners' duties. She said they must take an oath before starting work. The oath requires them to serve with honesty and independence. Mtalimanja expects the same high standards they showed before. She stressed that constitutional and electoral laws guide their work.

The new commissioners join Reverend Phillip Kalimbulire and Limbikani Kamlongera. They will prepare for general elections set for September 16. Chief Registrar Justice Innocent Nebi gave the oath.
