Security forces threw up a massive roadblock near Bulange Mengo that ended up messing with Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II's motorcade when opposition guy Bobi Wine showed up for a sit-down with Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga. The UPDF and cops locked down streets around the area, and Bobi Wine blasted the whole thing as pure government paranoia after his meeting wrapped up at Wankulukuku.
Mayiga warned that beating people with batons and firing tear gas during campaign season is gonna backfire hard if anyone wants legit elections. He said violence just creates more violence, and authorities need to back off with the heavy-handed tactics.
The roadblock sparked a bunch of criticism since blocking a king's convoy over a political visitor is basically asking for public backlash during an already tense campaign period.
