Kalonzo hails Raila, youth protests at Pan African Day

Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka honored late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga during Pan African Day 2025 commemorations, describing him as a tireless advocate for continental unity and democratic values. Speaking on Sunday at Lukenya University in Makueni County, Kalonzo highlighted Odinga's work as the African Union's High Representative for Infrastructure Development, where he pursued a vision of interconnected railways, roads, energy systems and digital networks across Africa. Former Botswana President Seretse Ian Khama presided over the event.

Kalonzo linked recent youth-led demonstrations against corruption and poor governance to Pan-Africanism's enduring principles, calling on African leaders to engage with protesters rather than suppress them. He pointed to 19 coups occurring within four years as evidence that citizens across the continent are demanding accountability and rejecting authoritarian rule.

The Wiper leader emphasized that youthful activism represents hope and determination, not disorder, and warned that unlawful detentions and violations of basic freedoms must cease.
