Kamal Haasan hails Mohanlal’s Phalke win as Kerala goes wild for Lalettan

Tamil actor Kamal Haasan expressed admiration for Malayalam superstar Mohanlal after the latter received India's prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award. President Droupadi Murmu presented the lifetime achievement honor during the 71st National Award ceremony. Haasan posted a photograph on social media platform X showing Mohanlal accepting the recognition. The Rajya Sabha member described his colleague as a true artist whose performances have influenced millions of viewers. He emphasized that this recognition was well-deserved for the veteran performer.

Mohanlal began his acting journey in 1978 with a small part in Thiranottam. The Kerala-born actor gained widespread recognition during the 1980s and 1990s through diverse roles across multiple genres. His filmography spans over 350 productions in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada languages. The 65-year-old performer has earned five National Film Awards and nine Kerala State Film Awards throughout his career. His notable works feature classics like Kireedam, Bharatham, and Hindi films such as Company.
