Kampala Metropolitan Police stepped up intelligence-led crackdowns this week to counter narcotics networks, robberies, and other offenses in high-risk zones. Officers reported three overnight sweeps that netted eight suspects on Oct. 30 in Wamala Kasumba, Karanzi, Kinyarwanda, and Tabba in Nansana Division, then 16 suspects between 12:30 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Oct. 31 in the Thailand, Katogo, and Kago areas of Kinawataka, Nakawa Division. Two coordinated actions in Old Kampala Division led to 48 arrests in Nakulabye and Kisenyi. Police said they recovered suspected drugs and dangerous weapons, and that the suspects will be screened and charged after investigations.
Alongside arrests, officers expanded preventive outreach. A community policing drive on Oct. 29 in Bulabira-Kalitunsi, Najjera, focused on neighborhood watch, crime prevention, domestic violence, vigilance, and electoral offenses. Police leaders praised public cooperation and urged residents to report promptly, remain alert, and share credible leads to help maintain order across the city.
