Compensation for residents of Kampung Sungai Baru who opposed the development project has been fully paid, with amounts ranging from RM198,000 to RM2.9 million, depending on the property type.
Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Zaliha Mustafa explained that the compensation was based on market values assessed by the Department of Valuation and Property Services, with terrace houses valued between RM800,000 and RM2.9 million, and flats between RM198,000 and RM350,000.
She clarified that payments, which included relocation expenses and rental fees, were completed between February 2022 and January 2023 and covered both property owners and tenants.
Dr. Zaliha noted that the compensation offered was higher than the market values from 2015 to 2019, and any property owner dissatisfied with the amount can seek legal recourse.
