Federal Territories Minister Dr. Zaliha Mustafa criticized former minister Annuar Musa for making a “rushed” decision that allowed a developer to acquire land in Kampung Sungai Baru, designated for redevelopment.
During a Dewan Rakyat session, Zaliha explained that in 2020, the absence of federal policies on land acquisition consent led to the use of the Land Acquisition Act 1960 against residents who opposed the project.
She noted that the land was gazetted under Sections 4 and 8 of the Act between June 18 and June 21, 2021, and called for Annuar to be questioned over the quick decision.
Zaliha also pointed out that the consent threshold for redevelopment projects was only introduced in 2021.
