Kangana Ranaut hails the government ban on 25 OTT platforms for soft porn content

The government blocked access to twenty-five streaming platforms that displayed adult content. Kangana Ranaut praised this administrative action against services like Ullu, ALTT, and Desiflix. The actress emphasized protecting cultural values and guiding young people away from harmful material. She described the ban as necessary for preventing societal breakdown.

Internet Service Providers received instructions to disable public access to these applications within India. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting coordinated with telecommunications authorities to ensure compliance. Platforms such as Big Shots App, Boomex, and ShowX faced restrictions for violating multiple regulations. The banned services breached the Information Technology Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and laws preventing indecent representation of women.

A Supreme Court petition filed months earlier requested restrictions on explicit digital content. The court directed petitioners toward executive authorities rather than judicial intervention. Government officials acted on concerns about inappropriate material reaching audiences through unregulated streaming services.
