Kano Defends School Closures for Ramadan Observance

Kano State leaders spoke up about closing grade schools during Ramadan fasting time. Religious Affairs leader Ahmad Tijjani Sani Lawal talked with news people recently. He said they made this choice thinking about what helps families most. The government wants students to take part fully in their religious practices without school tasks getting in the way.

Lawal called Ramadan a holy time for Muslims. He stressed how important it became for the government to create the right setting for prayer and worship. Any steps they took stayed inside the rules already on the books. The state government believes they can make decisions that help their people live better lives, according to Lawal.

He explained that school closings match what citizens need, right beside keeping education running smoothly. The plan came after careful consideration of both sides. Lawal asked everyone to pray more during this fasting period. He mentioned that people should remember to pray for their leaders since those running the government need divine help.

Some people asked questions about how closing schools might affect learning. The Kano government stands firm that this decision benefits everyone. They promise to find ways to keep education on track despite the break. Officials plan to make changes as needed to protect student progress through the rest of the school year.
