Kano State Government says it did not fire former Secretary Baffa Bichi just for health reasons. The truth came out after Bichi claimed in a video that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf runs a government more corrupt than the previous one. He boasted about having proof to help remove them from power in 2027.
Information Commissioner Ibrahim Waiya called these claims false and politically driven. He said officials first hid the real reason for firing Bichi to respect him. Waiya expressed disappointment that someone who served at high levels would spread untrue stories for political gain. He stressed that comparing current leaders with past ones hurts Kano citizens.
The commissioner dared Bichi to publicly share any evidence of wrongdoing. He also suggested Bichi focus on his health problems instead of making empty accusations. The government asked people to ignore what it called baseless claims. Officials promised to keep working for the good of all Kano residents.
The state removed Bichi from his position on March 29, 2024.
