Karan Johar celebrates Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani winning the National Film Award

Director Karan Johar celebrated receiving recognition at the 71st National Film Awards ceremony. Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani earned the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment honor. Choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant received Best Choreography recognition for the Dhindora Baje Re sequence. Johar expressed gratitude through social media posts, acknowledging the achievement. The filmmaker noted this award matches the same category he won for his 1998 directorial debut, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

The romantic comedy features Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt as the lead couple with opposing backgrounds. Rocky represents flamboyant Punjabi culture while Rani embodies intellectual Bengali journalism. Their families oppose the relationship due to cultural differences. The pair decides to spend three months living with each other's relatives before marriage. Supporting cast members feature Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, and other veteran performers who enhance the family drama narrative.
