Kasipul MP Said He Would Be Killed Before It Happened

Late Kasipul MP Charles Ong'ondo Were predicted his death months before gunmen killed him on April 30 near City Mortuary roundabout. He asked security agencies for protection, saying people wanted him dead. Videos show the lawmaker speaking about threats during public events in his area.

Were linked the rising violence in Kasipul to outsiders who disrupted local gatherings. He described how suspected troublemakers interfered with the funeral ceremonies he attended. The MP complained that county security officials never addressed these attacks despite clear danger signs.

The lawmaker faced blocked roads after one funeral, but escaped because his security team helped him. At another service, someone threatened to stop him from speaking even before prayers began. Were claimed people from outside his constituency planned to kill him, calling them serial thieves.

Just weeks before his death, Were stated some individuals planned to bring people from Kisumu to create chaos at a funeral as cover to shoot him. During Mashujaa Day celebrations, he left early because of intimidation. He mentioned finding comfort in keeping religious texts close for protection.
