Kasipul Suspect Wants to Pray at Late MP Grave

Philip Aroko plans to visit MP Were's grave for prayers after police release him. His attorney, Danstan Omari, told Judge Muteti that Aroko wants to meet Kasipul residents. Omari explained that African funeral customs last more than one day. The suspect aims to become Kasipul's next MP and, if elected, create laws that help police investigators.

Police arrested Aroko on Wednesday after he went to the Gigiri station. The DCI had named him as a person of interest in Were's murder case. His legal team complained when police held him without a court appearance. Judge Muteti ordered police to bring Aroko to court on Monday. The law requires suspects to appear before a judge within 24 hours.

Aroko later appeared before Magistrate Gicobi. Prosecutors asked to hold him for 30 days. The court granted just seven days instead. Omari withdrew their High Court request on Monday. Judge Muteti agreed that Aroko should remain in custody for the seven days.
