Kathuniya bags silver as Almasrahi shatters 100m mark

Indian para-athlete Yogesh Kathuniya earned silver in the F56 discus competition on Tuesday at the World Para Athletics Championships held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The 28-year-old recorded a best throw of 42.49 meters, but Brazil's Claudiney Batista claimed gold with 45.67 meters. This marks Kathuniya's third straight silver medal at the World Championships.

Saudi Arabia's Naif Almasrahi shattered the world record in the men's 100m T44 final with a time of 10.94 seconds. The previous mark stood at 11.00 seconds from 2019. Tunisia's Yassine Gharbi won the men's 400m T54 after serving a ban from competition.

Brazil topped the medal standings with five gold medals, and China followed with four golds. India held seventh place with two gold, three silver, and one bronze medal.
