Kaur and Sharma pull India out of a Guwahati ditch

India posted 269 runs for eight wickets in 47 overs during their rain-affected Women's ODI World Cup opener against Sri Lanka on Tuesday at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Amanjot Kaur scored 57 runs while Deepti Sharma contributed 53 runs to anchor the innings after a middle-order collapse threatened to derail the hosts' total. Sri Lanka's Inoka Ranaweera captured four wickets as India lost four batters within two overs during a critical phase.

Kaur and Sharma combined for a 103-run partnership off 99 deliveries to stabilize the innings after India slumped to 124 for six wickets. Sneh Rana provided a late surge with an unbeaten 28 runs off 15 balls to boost the final total. Rain delays reduced the match by three overs as both teams adjusted to the shortened format.
