UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer arrived in India on Wednesday, leading what he described as the largest trade delegation the UK has sent to the country. Starmer addressed Indian business leaders and referenced earlier meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who welcomed Starmer’s historic visit and expressed anticipation for discussions aimed at deepening bilateral ties. The two leaders are set to meet on Thursday to assess progress under the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, focusing on a 10-year plan that covers trade, innovation, defense, energy, health, and education.
Upon arriving in Mumbai, Starmer visited a football training center and toured Yash Raj Films Studio, joined by actor Rani Mukerji. He announced that three Yash Raj Films movies will be filmed in the UK starting in 2026, generating more than 3,000 jobs there. British Airways confirmed its plans to expand operations in India, supporting the UK trade mission. Starmer stated that stronger business growth with India will benefit the British workforce.
