Kengu Black charged in deadly highway crash

University student Kengu Black faces four counts of causing death by dangerous driving from a fatal crash on the PJ Patterson Highway. Her father is the Mandeville businessman and activist known as Skeng Don, legally named Kenneth Black. The St. Catherine Parish Court officially brought the charges based on a ruling from prosecutors.

The incident happened after midnight when a grey Toyota Probox lost control and flipped. Authorities allege Black, driving a 2022 Mercedes-Benz registered to her father's company, K and T Development Jamaica Limited, then hit the overturned vehicle. Four people died: the Probox owner Andre McLeish, eight-year-old Tray Stewart, Wendy Lammie, and Tyesha Manhertz. Three others got hurt and needed hospital care.

Black had just come back to Jamaica from studying at a university in Canada. Her next court date is set for early February.
