Kennedy Agyapong Takes Aim at Bawumia's Faith

Kennedy Agyapong recently attacked Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia based on his Islamic faith. After failing to become the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer himself, Agyapong met with legal professionals in Kumasi, asking for their support in his second attempt. He claimed the NPP should replace Bawumia because many Christian leaders opposed having a Muslim President. Agyapong stated these religious leaders told their church members not to vote for Bawumia because of his faith.

The former MP and businessman warned that the same problem would happen again if the party kept Bawumia as its candidate. His comments sparked immediate backlash from attendees at the meeting. Many legal professionals disagreed strongly with Agyapong. They called his statements completely baseless and harmful to unity.

Several pointed out that election numbers from across the country do not back up Agyapong's claims about religion affecting voting patterns. His religious arguments failed to convince the audience he addressed. The data contradicted his claims that Christian voters rejected Bawumia due to his Muslim faith. Most participants dismissed his religious attack as an inappropriate campaign strategy.
