Kenyans outraged as officer sprays paint car in Nairobi

A video showing an enforcement officer spray-painting a warning message across the rear window of a parked vehicle in Nairobi has sparked widespread public outrage online. The footage depicts the officer marking the car with instructions to remove it while colleagues stand nearby, though authorities have not confirmed which agency conducted the operation or whether this represents a new enforcement policy.

Social media users condemned the action as vandalism and malicious property damage, questioning why officials did not use conventional methods like wheel clamping for illegally parked vehicles. Nairobi City County regulations authorize clamping or towing cars that violate parking restrictions and obstruct traffic flow, with unclaimed vehicles subject to auction after sixty days. The Transport Act prohibits parking on pavements and requires public service vehicles to stop only at designated locations.
