Kerio Valley residents defend Murkomen's shoot-to-kill remarks

Local people have rushed to support Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen after his recent comments sparked major debate. Youth group leaders say critics completely twisted his words about police using deadly force. The Pokot-Turkana-Marakwet Youth Association chairman Kimaiya Minanyang told reporters that Murkomen meant something different. He explained the minister only wanted police to protect themselves when criminals attack them directly. The leader said people should read the full statement before making judgments.

Minanyang pointed out that the constitution already gives officers the right to defend their lives during dangerous situations. He said this covers times when gangs try to steal police weapons or burn down police stations. Human rights groups and church leaders have completely missed the point according to the youth chairman. Critics ignored all the damage and violence that happened during recent street protests. The association believes Murkomen correctly called these demonstrations an attempted government takeover.

Protesters caused serious destruction across several towns during the recent unrest period. They burned down courthouses and police stations in places like Kikuyu and Ol Kalou. Some criminal suspects actually died when they became trapped inside these burning government buildings. The youth leader said legal experts know that police can use weapons to save lives and protect property. Minanyang finished by saying that Murkomen's work has already started bringing peace back to their troubled region.
