Keta Cops Smash 360k Worth Beach Weed Stash

Police officers destroyed 24 bags of suspected cannabis on April 25 at Adzido beach in Keta. The drugs were found on December 29 after someone tipped off authorities. No arrests have been made despite investigations across the municipality.

Each bag contained 30 wrapped pieces worth about GH₵500 each, making the total value GH₵360,000. This marks the second major drug destruction at the same location following a previous operation on September 27, 2024, when 78 bags were seized.

The Keta police chief met with local government officials to plan education programs about drug dangers. Officials learned many students use substances like tramadol, tamaking, and cannabis, which harm their futures. Police promised to crack down on illegal drugs and asked people to report anyone using them.

A narcotics officer who watched the destruction said drug use leads to illness, mental problems, death, and jail time. She urged young people to avoid unprescribed drugs for a better future.
