Khaled Ahmed breaks Hurricanes hearts as Rangpur Riders steal last ball thriller

Rangpur Riders secured a nail-biting one-run victory against Hobart Hurricanes at Providence Stadium in Guyana on Sunday. Khaled Ahmed delivered a match-winning four-wicket performance that transformed a modest total of 151 into a defendable score. The fast bowler struck at critical moments to derail the Hurricanes chase when victory appeared within reach. His devastating spell marked his second consecutive four-wicket haul in the tournament. The dramatic finish went to the final delivery with both teams fighting for every run.

Hobart Hurricanes began their pursuit confidently through captain Ben McDermott's aggressive 34 runs from 19 deliveries. McDermott's early assault provided the foundation for what seemed a straightforward chase of 152 runs. Khaled's breakthrough dismissal of the captain in the sixth over shifted momentum toward the defending champions. Substitute fielder Saif Hassan completed the catch that sparked Hobart's decline. The middle order failed to capitalize on their strong start.

Iftikhar Ahmed and Rakibul Hasan applied pressure through economical bowling spells that restricted scoring opportunities. Mohammad Nabi's resilient 44 runs from 36 balls kept Hobart competitive throughout the middle phases. The equation tightened to four runs required from four balls before Azmatullah Omarzai dismissed Nabi. Billy Stanlake's run-out attempt on the final ball sealed Rangpur's dramatic triumph. The victory elevated Rangpur Riders to the tournament summit with four points from two matches before their July 16 encounter against Dubai Capitals.
