Khaled Mashud wins BCB seat in Dhaka election shakeup

Former Bangladesh captain Khaled Mashud Pilot has been elected as one of 23 directors on the Bangladesh Cricket Board following Monday’s elections in Dhaka. Out of 156 eligible voters, 115 ballots were cast, resulting in a turnout of 73.71 percent and strong engagement from all categories. Mashud received 35 votes to secure his position in the category for former cricketers, government, and autonomous bodies.

According to returning officer Dr. Sheikh Jubayed Hasan, the 23 directors were elected as outlined in the BCB constitution, comprising 10 district and division representatives, 12 from Dhaka clubs, and one from the former players’ category. The Dhaka clubs quota saw Ishtiaque Sadeque, Shanian Taneem Naveen, and Faruque Ahmed each receive 42 votes, while Aminul Islam and Nazmul Abedeen Fahim led the Dhaka division. The new board will soon convene to select the next president for a four-year term.
