King Paluta Pops Champagne Over BECE Question

Ghanaian rapper Thomas Adjei While became part of school test history when officials used his hit song Aseda for exam questions. Students taking the Basic Education Certificate Examination found questions about the musician during their Creative Arts paper Tuesday. The test asked young people to name two social problems that King Paluta addresses through his popular track. Officials wanted students to think about how music connects with real community issues.

King Paluta posted excited messages on social media after hearing about the exam question. The artist said he planned to celebrate with champagne because of this special recognition. His song Aseda recently won Song of the Year at the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards ceremony. The rapper also earned two other prizes during that same awards night.

More than 603,000 students took the BECE tests between June 11 and June 17 across Ghana. The number of test takers grew almost 6 percent compared to last year when 569,000 students participated. Female students slightly outnumbered male candidates during this examination period. Both public and private schools sent their students to take these important graduation tests.
