The 27th Kinyara Golf Open Tournament was officially launched on Wednesday at the Uganda Golf Club in Kampala. Set to take place from November 13 to 15, 2025, at the picturesque Masindi Golf Club, the event will draw over 200 golfers. According to Moses Enzama, the Kinyara Golf Club Captain, the tournament has seen an impressive response, with more than 100 golfers already registered in its first week.
This year’s competition promises to be larger than ever, with a range of prizes across multiple categories. Professionals will compete for a prize pool of UGX 10 million, while the men’s gross category offers UGX 4 million, and the ladies’ category carries UGX 3 million. The tournament will kick off on November 13, with professionals and gross players each playing multiple rounds. On November 15, the main field of golfers will face off in an 18-hole challenge.
Defending champion Joseph Kasozi will return to compete against a strong field, including notable names like Joseph Cwinya-ai and Reagan Joseph Akena. The ladies’ division will see Lillian Koowe aiming for a repeat of her stellar performance from last year. The tournament will also feature senior golfers and subsidiary competitions, including the chance to win 500 kilograms of sugar with a hole-in-one on the par-3 hole 7. The event not only celebrates golf but also strengthens community ties in Masindi.
