KL Rahul to captain India for ODI series against South Africa

KL Rahul will take charge of India's 15-player roster for three one-day matches against South Africa after Shubman Gill sustained a neck injury during the opening Test. The wicketkeeper-batsman leads a lineup featuring veterans Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, both of whom participate exclusively in 50-over cricket after stepping away from T20 and Test formats.

Vice-captain Shreyas Iyer remains unavailable while recovering from a spleen laceration suffered during last month's Australia series. Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant rejoin the squad for the contests beginning in Ranchi, followed by two additional fixtures before five T20 encounters.

The team comprises Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harshit Rana, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh and Dhruv Jurel.
