Kogi Court Judge Axed Over Shady Property Deal

Kogi State officials made a judge retire because he bought a building that people fought about in his court. He ordered the sale of this property, but later did not pay the full amount for it himself. The Judicial Service Commission decided this at their meeting on May 5. They also suspended another court official named Tanimu Muhammad for making decisions without listening to both sides first. He cannot work as a magistrate for two years.

The commission cleared four other officials after investigating claims against them. These people faced accusations that turned out to be false after careful review. A group will investigate how to improve the lives of court workers across the state. A top lawyer leads this team, which aims to help judges earn fair pay for their work.
