Kojo Blak declares Ghana the true birthplace of Afrobeats

Kojo Blak jumped into the Afrobeats origin argument and said Ghana deserves credit since the whole thing came from highlife music that was already happening there. The artist told a show that people worldwide recognize Ghana as the birthplace, even though Nigeria gets props for blowing it up commercially and spreading it around the globe.

He pointed out that highlife rhythms and melodies built the foundation before Afrobeats became what it is today. The Netflix documentary backs up his claim about Ghanaian influence, and he thinks the genre's history gets told wrong when people skip over where the sound actually started.

The debate keeps popping up across West Africa, with Ghanaian voices asking for more recognition while the genre dominates charts everywhere.
