Asante Kotoko Communications Director Sarfo Duku revealed why goalkeeper Frederick Asare left the club. The former WAFA player departed after the 2024/25 season ended when contract talks failed. Kotoko wanted to keep Asare but could not agree to his financial requests. The club found his salary demands unreasonable during negotiations. Duku said the team tried hard to reach a deal with the goalkeeper.

Asare wanted money that exceeded what the club could afford to pay. Duku told Akoma FM that the player's final offer was far above their budget. The club had no choice but to let the goalkeeper go.
Kotoko announced several other player departures alongside Asare's exit. Michael Kyei Dwamena will not return to the team next season. Fernando Wisdom Bassey also left when his contract expired recently. Daniel Adrian Adjetey and Kwasi Asante moved to other clubs as well. Samuel Tenadu and Sampson Eduku completed the list of departing players.
