Kotoko Gutted After League Fail But Cup Bound

Asante Kotoko midfielder Emmanuel Antwi feels sad about missing the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League championship. The Porcupine Warriors finished third with 58 points and lost the title to Bibiani Gold Stars. Kotoko came five points short of winning their first league crown during recent seasons. Poor results near the end cost them chances at the top prize. Team officials fired coach Prosper Narteh Ogum and hired Karim Zito as replacement.

Antwi told club media that players blame themselves for the disappointing campaign results. The squad wanted both league and FA Cup trophies before the season started. Missing out on the Premier League title hurts team morale and fan expectations. Players worked hard all season but could not maintain good form when it mattered most. The midfielder admitted the team let down supporters who expected championship success.

Kotoko still has one chance to win silverware during the MTN FA Cup final against Golden Kick. The match takes place June 15 at University of Ghana Stadium with continental qualification at stake. Antwi believes beating Golden Kick would help make up for league disappointment. The FA Cup represents the last opportunity to save their season from complete failure. Victory would give fans something to celebrate after the league letdown.
