Kuami Eugene Talks Turning Point in Career After Volta Trip and Big Break

Ghanaian musician Kuami Eugene credits a trip to the Volta region as the moment his career changed forever. The award-winning artist spoke about his breakthrough during an interview with Doreen Avio. Eugene explained how a friend brought him to Volta where opportunities began opening up for him. Before that journey, he had struggled for years to gain any meaningful recognition. His music education started at church where he learned the fundamentals of performing.

Eugene faced constant challenges before his breakthrough moment arrived. He performed mostly at weddings and church gatherings where payments barely covered his transportation costs. Small community events were the only venues that would book him for shows. Recognition seemed impossible despite his dedication and talent. The money he earned could not even pay for his basic travel expenses.

Everything shifted after his friend introduced him to contacts from the Volta region. Eugene entered the MTN Hitmaker competition and finished as the first runner-up. Lynx Entertainment signed him following his strong performance on the show. The recording contract gave him access to professional resources and industry connections. His musical abilities finally had the platform they needed to reach wider audiences.

Eugene achieved major success at the Ghana Music Awards where he won two important categories. He captured the Unsung Artiste of the Year award first. The New Artiste of the Year honor followed shortly after his initial victory. These awards established him as a serious talent within the Ghanaian music scene. Eugene has maintained his position as one of the country's most successful recording artists.
