Kwara United secures first Federation Cup victory for the state since 1967

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq celebrated after Kwara United won the 2025 President Federation Cup. The team made history as the first from the state to claim this trophy since officials created it in 1967. AbdulRazaq signed a statement on Saturday from Ilorin praising the achievement. He called the victory historic and proof of the team's strength and determination. The governor thanked players, coaches, management staff, the State Sports Commission and fans for their hard work.

AbdulRazaq expressed gratitude to residents across Kwara State and those living abroad for supporting the team. He said the victory shows what happens when people work together with discipline and determination. The win followed another major success when Kwara's team won the Senior President's Debate Competition at the national level for the first time ever. Students under the State Universal Basic Education Board had already won the President's School Debate Competition for three straight years. These debate victories reflect the state's growing focus on education investment.

The governor emphasized that these successes come from planned investments in youth programs, education and sports. He said officials deliberately chose to spend money on these important areas of the economy. AbdulRazaq congratulated all people from Kwara State both at home and around the world for these accomplishments. He promised to continue working to keep the state earning positive recognition across Nigeria and around the globe. The governor believes these achievements will inspire more success for Kwara State in the future.
