Kwesi Nyantakyi Calls for Collective Action to Combat Hooliganism in Football

Former Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi wants football clubs and the association to work together on match security. He believes both groups should share responsibility for preventing violence during games. Nyantakyi spoke with Joy Sports about problems facing Ghanaian football. He said hooliganism has hurt the sport badly. Fewer people attend matches and sponsors show less interest.

Poor security allows violence to happen at stadiums. Nyantakyi warned that unsafe conditions put fans and property at risk. He said violence can cause injuries and damage. The former CAF official thinks clubs should pay for security services. Police officers and soldiers who work at games need money for travel and operations.

Nyantakyi suggested clubs pay a basic amount to cover these costs. Security personnel often travel long distances to reach stadiums. The expenses add up quickly for law enforcement agencies. He believes shared funding would improve safety at all matches. Better security would also help restore confidence among fans.

The former football leader thinks teamwork can solve these problems. Clubs and the association must collaborate on security planning. Joint efforts would make stadiums safer for everyone. This approach could bring back fans who stopped attending games. Nyantakyi hopes better security will attract new sponsors to Ghanaian football.
