Lalon legend Farida Parveen battles for life in Dhaka ICU

Legendary folk singer Farida Parveen fought back from the brink as doctors reported her condition had improved slightly. The beloved artist remains trapped in intensive care at Universal Medical College and Hospital, battling multiple serious health problems. Medical teams have been working around the clock to save the 70-year-old music icon, who has been sick for months. Her kidneys have been failing while pneumonia attacks her lungs and diabetes ravages her body. Hospital chiefs rushed to form two emergency medical boards with top specialists from across the country.

Dr Ashis Kumar Chakraborty told reporters that Parveen looked stronger compared to yesterday, when her family feared the worst. The music legend suffers from a deadly cocktail of diseases, including liver problems and dangerous chemical imbalances in her blood. Expert doctors from Bangladesh Medical University and the National Institute of Kidney Diseases joined the fight to save her life. The first medical board consists of six members, while the second team includes ten specialists who met late on Wednesday night. Fans across Bangladesh have been praying for the recovery of their beloved star.

Farida Parveen gained fame for singing the mystical songs of poet Lalon, which have touched hearts around the world. She was born in Natore on December 31, 1954, and spent her childhood in Kushtia, where she discovered her gift. The folk music queen earned praise both at home and abroad for her powerful voice and spiritual performances. Her unique style brought ancient Bengali music to new generations of listeners. Parveen remains one of the most respected artists in Bangladesh despite her current health struggles.
