Two big names in Zimbabwe music meet tonight at Athens Arena in Esigodini. Sungura master Alick Macheso teams up with band Insimbi ZeZhwane for a rare show.
Macheso returns after five years away from Esigodini. His manager, Tich Makahamadze, said the band just landed in Bulawayo. They checked their sound gear and stood ready to play.
"This place means much to Macheso," Makahamadze said. "Fans will see him at his best."
The rising stars of Insimbi ZeZhwane feel thrilled to share the stage. Lead singer Meluleki "Brema" Moyo looks up to Macheso. "He shows us what hard work can do," Moyo said. The band plans to play songs from their latest record.
Jabulani Mbira runs Athens Arena. He wants to make Esigodini a stop for more famous acts next year. "These artists had a great 2024," he said. "We picked them to help end the year with joy."
Mbira wants music fans from all around to come. He invited people from Bulawayo, Gwanda, and Filabusi to join the fun. The show brings two music styles together - Macheso's Sungura and Insimbi ZeZhwane's fresh sound.
The night promises magic as old meets new on stage. These artists will help fans dance their way toward 2025. In this small town between bigger cities, music brings people together for one special night.
