Live Nation grabbed a majority chunk of Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile, teaming up with BeLive Entertainment Group to run the 15,000-capacity venue. The arena pulls over a million fans yearly for 170-plus shows, and the companies kept the sale price under wraps. CEO Michael Rapino said Latin America has insane live music energy, and Chile is a must-hit spot for touring acts.
BeLive runs events across Chile, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, and Uruguay, throwing 250 shows a year for around 8 million people. They also operate another Movistar Arena in Bogota.
Live Nation has been going hard on international expansion, recently snagging venues in Copenhagen, launching The Dome in South Africa, and backing a massive arena project in Lagos. They also started running Arena Cañaveralejo in Colombia earlier this year with local partners.
