Liverpool chase Hugo Ekitike after Newcastle say no to Isak

Liverpool plans to pursue Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike after Newcastle rejected their approach for Alexander Isak. The Premier League champions shifted their attention to the French international when the Magpies set Isak's price at approximately £150 million. Reports suggest Liverpool will submit an offer exceeding £70 million for the 23-year-old striker this weekend. Newcastle and Manchester United have also expressed interest in acquiring Ekitike's services. The player has reportedly agreed to consider a move to Anfield.

Ekitike netted 22 goals across all competitions for Frankfurt during the previous campaign after transferring from Paris Saint-Germain. Liverpool may sell Darwin Nunez while Luis Diaz attracted a failed bid from Bayern Munich. The club has already spent £116 million on German midfielder Florian Wirtz and signed defenders Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez. Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili joined Arne Slot's squad after completing his move from Valencia. These moves reflect Liverpool's aggressive summer transfer strategy.
