Lok Sabha faces adjournments as Opposition demands debate on Pahalgam attack

Opposition members forced multiple adjournments during Monday's Lok Sabha Monsoon Session through persistent protests. Parliamentary proceedings halted twice as lawmakers demanded immediate debate on Operation Sindoor and the Pahalgam terror incident. Speaker Om Birla first suspended activities until noon before Jagdambika Pal extended the break until 2:00 p.m. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh confirmed government readiness for comprehensive security discussions when time permits. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju scheduled a Business Advisory Committee meeting for 2:30 p.m. to establish discussion priorities.

The administration maintained its commitment to address all Opposition concerns through proper channels. Singh emphasized complete preparation for extended national security debates covering the Pahalgam attack. Rijiju criticized first-day protests as inappropriate while acknowledging all-party agreement on maximizing session discussions. The government expressed frustration with disruptive tactics rather than rule-based parliamentary discourse. Committee deliberations will determine which issues receive floor time during the current session.
