Fountain Court Chambers will welcome back Lord Peter Goldsmith KC in January 2026 following his departure from Debevoise & Plimpton, where he has served since 2007. The former Attorney General under Tony Blair from 2001 to 2007 previously practiced at Fountain Court from 1972 until entering government service. Goldsmith currently oversees Debevoise's London office as co-managing partner and leads the firm's litigation operations across Europe and Asia.
The returning barrister plans to work as both counsel and arbitrator in international disputes. He maintains a position as vice-chair of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre. During his tenure at Debevoise, Goldsmith helped establish a prominent disputes practice that includes partners Samantha Rowe, Tony Dymond, and Jeff Sullivan KC.
Fountain Court also announced that Sir Nicholas Underhill, a former Lord Justice of Appeal, will join as an arbitrator and mediator. Underhill spent nearly 30 years at the chambers before his judicial career, which included serving as president of the Employment Appeal Tribunal and vice president of the Court of Appeal's Civil Division.
