Luzira Inmates Ace UACE and Rock It

Talk about turning prison time into study time! The 2024 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education results just dropped some incredible news from Luzira Prison.

Every single inmate who took the exam aced it. The Uganda National Examinations Board reported 49 candidates from the prison (46 men and three women), with 48 actually sitting for the test. Every single one of them scored their UACE certificate.

UNEB Chairperson Prof. Celestino Obua celebrated the achievement, highlighting that Luzira isn't just about detention but genuine rehabilitation. Breaking down the results, 25 male inmates scored three principal passes, 13 candidates (11 males and two females) earned two principal passes, and 10 inmates (9 males and one female) secured one principal pass.

The stats for special needs candidates were equally impressive. Most special needs students fell under the "Others" category, dealing with conditions like asthma, sickle cell anemia, and epilepsy. Across various categories, such as blind, low-vision, deaf, and physically handicapped students, many achieved impressive academic success, demonstrating incredible resilience and determination to learn regardless of personal challenges.
