Madam Boss, Mama Vee flee Harare court as case stalls

Two social media personalities departed Harare Magistrates' Court quickly this morning while dodging photographers. Tarisai Cleopatra Chikocho, known as Madam Boss, wore black attire, while Admire Mushambi, also known as Mama Vee, appeared in brown golf clothing. Both women were expected to provide testimony regarding fraud charges connected to the E-Creator Ponzi scheme. The proceedings faced a delay until October 10 because court officials lacked access to a Chinese language interpreter.

The E-Creator scandal emerged in early 2023 when Zhao Jiaotong and William Chui established an online investment platform. The scheme attracted thousands of Zimbabweans by promising substantial monthly returns for reviewing products online. Operations collapsed in July 2023 after investors experienced withdrawal issues and had their accounts frozen. Authorities arrested Zhao Jiaotong at Harare airport while he attempted to leave Zimbabwe.
