Prophet Walter Magaya and his wife, Tendai, are getting bumped up to the High Court for fraud charges tied to their companies, Planet Africa and Yadah Connect. The couple got hit with 78 separate counts after allegedly running a sketchy land scheme that took people for around 49 grand in American money plus close to 200 thousand South African rand. Prosecutors say they promised residential plots to buyers but never came through, which left complainants stuck holding the bag.
The case got pushed back until late next month for indictment proceedings. Magaya has another trial starting mid-month involving five rape allegations that run separately from the fraud stuff.
